Parent Information
Dear Parents,
We are excited about the 2010 Region 3 Championships. We hope that this will truly be one of the most memorable experiences of your child’s tumbling and trampoline career. Here are a few suggestions that may help you have a positive experience as well.
For complete details, download the Registration Packet on the “downloads” page.
ENTRY FEE: LEVELS 1 – Sr. Elite
First event $75.00
Each additional event $10.00
Sr. Elite FREE if you volunteer for one FULL session
These fees are considerably more than what you are accustomed to in your area. Please remember that this is a huge event, it will be very similar to a national championship and it takes the bulk of this entry fee to host a competition of this magnitude. Any overage will be used to benefit the athletes of Region 3 in clinics, regional events, scholarships and International travel etc.
VENUE: Fort Worth Convention Center
1201 Houston St.
Fort Worth, TX 76102
Parking in garage $6 per visit. Parking on the street will be free.
SCHEDULE: Why the block schedule? This schedule gives you an exact time for each event your child will be competing in. Feel free to leave the arena between events. Be sure to be back in the arena at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time Due to the massive numbers in some ages groups it may be necessary to schedule some ages on both
Saturday and Sunday, this helps to eliminate athletes that might crossover between two events. We want to provide the best competition opportunity for each athlete with no rushing or trying to be in two places at once3. A detailed schedule will be sent to your gym no later than April 20, 2010. The schedule will probably be similar to last year. Level 10, Jr. and Sr. competition on Friday, and all Levels 1 – 9 competition Saturday and Sunday. We will likely finish around 3:00 on Sunday, May 16th.
OFFICAL The official T-shirt along with many other items will be available for sale
T-SHIRT: at the Coliseum during the competition.
SCORING: Total Score will do all scoring. The score for each competitor will be flashed on a screen at each equipment station. There will also be final score sheets posted in the lobby at the entrance of the venue. Be sure to pick up a colored coded wristband if you child is in the top ten. This will ensure that we recognize your child as an award winner when staging for awards.
PROGRAM: There will be a program available. If you would like to purchase a Good Luck ad for your child or team, see your head coach today. All teams and athletes entered by the deadline will be listed in the program.
ADMISSION: There will be a gate fee of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, 7 to 17 yr old, 6 & under are free. Athletes in uniform will be admitted for FREE if they present their athlete pass. This may be obtained from their team coach. Participants who stay at the host hotel will receive one free wristband per room that will allow one guest access to the competition all weekend FREE of charge.
VOLUNTEERS: In order to help make this a quality competition it will take all of us working together. If you would like to volunteer for a single session or all day we would love to have you. Check with your coach and sign up on the volunteer form. All volunteers will receive a hand-stamp for their admission the day they volunteer and a free T-Shirt if you pre-register as a volunteer
AWARDS: Each child will receive a flight award immediately following their flight competition. The top ten in each age group and ability will receive a special award at the end of each session of competition at a special awards ceremony. See the specific schedule for awards ceremony times. The Level 10 Regional All Star Team will be announced after the session on Friday evening. Parents will be allowed on the floor only in designated areas to take pictures at the overall awards ceremonies at the end of each session. Check the final results posted at the front of the venue. If your child is in the top ten you will need to see the volunteer near awards for a colored wristband that will indicate to the staging staff that they are a top ten award winner. This will help with the staging process for awards.
SAFETY: For the safety of your child and others participating in the Region 3 Championships, we ask the following: Please do not use flash photography of any kind. Bright lights on video cameras are also prohibited.
STAGING: The staging area is used to line up flights for competition and pre competition stretching. In order to make this process run smoothly for the staff we ask that athletes not report to this area until their flight times have been called over the PA system or no more than 20 minutes prior to their scheduled time for competition. Athletes who are in this area to early will be asked to leave. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If an athlete is missing from a flight we will call their name before the flight is taken to the competition floor. NO FOOD WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE STAGING AREA.
OFF LIMITS: Due to the strict safety standards of USAG only those parents who have volunteered to help will be allowed on the competition floor. All others admitted to the competition floor must be safety certified with USA Gymnastics, and must also wear the official Region 3 Championships credentials. THERE WILL BE NO PARENTS ALLOWED IN THE LINE UP AREA. Each team may designate one representative in the line up area to assist with their team. We ask for your cooperation in this matter. Once your child has reached the regional level they should know what to expect in the line up area and be able to participate in the process without your help. We hope your regional Championships experience is a great one. If you have any questions that are not addressed, please check with your coach prior to the competition so that there are no surprises. Come and enjoy the fun of watching your child learn and grow from the competition experience.
WEB SITE INFO: Check the official Region 3 web site often for updates. Flights and the detailed schedule will be posted as soon as they are available. There will also be updates on where
to park at the venue and any last minute information that will make your experience more pleasant. The web site is your link to the most up to date information.
